FREIRAD technology

Step into the most valuable and important room at FREIRAD – our treasure chamber, the technical heart of FREIRAD. There’s more than just a lot of equipment hidden here.

Take a seat on our snow-white throne and listen to the sound of the radio waves mingling with the hum of the server room and join us on a journey.

You’ve probably already been down to the studio, the birthplace of every show. But there’s still a long way to go before your show ends up on the radio.

The microphone picks up the vibrations of your voice and sends it to the mixer via a cable. From the mixing console, the audio signal then goes to a computer, where analog is converted into digital.

The zeros and ones then end up back as a classic analog form in a copper cable and your transmission travels up to the antenna on the Butterbichl.

Our radio signal then spreads out from Hötting across Tyrol like a beam of light.

As far as the eye or the antenna can see.
